Modules for Teachers

In the classroom, efforts to raise awareness of scientific and environmental issues often run up against the same limitation: they inform, but do not guarantee either a comprehensive understanding or lasting engagement.

Similarly, learning frequently remains a top-down process, which limits students’ true mastery of the material. Students may understand the concepts, but they internalize little and retain even less.

Citizen science offers a powerful tool for overcoming these limitations. The “Waves of Change” Citizen Science Hackathon features modules for teachers, specifically designed to address these challenges.

As a teacher, come attend these modules and leave with:

  • Methods for adapting citizen science to the school curriculum
  • Techniques for facilitating and managing classroom dynamics around science projects
  • Strategies for integrating interdisciplinary skills (science, humanities, arts, digital technology)
  • Case studies and feedback from pioneering teachers who have already led this type of project
  • Insights into current challenges in science education and public outreach
  • Practical insights into youth empowerment through citizen science
  • A network for exchanging ideas with other teachers and science education professionals
  • A firsthand look at the projects developed during the Hackathon at the final presentation, which can serve as models for your own initiatives.
